PGIB with Craig B. Chandler

PGIB CONVENTION 2020 NETWORKING, COCKTAILS & DINNER Saturday, February 22, 2020

BY Joel Schulz in Calgary, Ab.

It has been some time since we gathered supporters from across the Province.

The Progressive Group for Independent Business (PGIB) has recently enjoyed massive provincial success from helping unite the two conservative parties by starting the merger talks in 2017 with our Directions conference, helping create the UCP, getting Jason Kenney elected as leader, 22 of our members ran in nominations and 19 won in the General Election and several are in Cabinet.

The PGIB was also crucial in volunteering throughout Calgary to ensure victories and a clean sweep for the federal Conservative Party of Canada. With all this recent political activity we still have the infrastructure in place because of several campaigns. Now we are focusing on City Hall and our new www.takebackcityhall.org project and we need your help.

December 4 at 6:21 PM - Craig B. Chandler; What a great weekend for the United Conservative Party (UCP) at our second ever convention! We have come a long way but so much more to do. The NDP really screwed up everything!

Unlike other organizations our focus is not media attention, but, getting policy in place and getting people elected at various levels of government. We unite our less government, lower taxes and politically accountable philosophy. We have a track record since 1992 of accomplishments. The ABTC is organizing at the ground level like no other organization in the history of Alberta or Canada. We are setting up chapters in municipal wards, provincial constituencies and federal ridings. We will be able to mobilize support for and against issues and candidates in a prompt manner. People in their communities will have a say and will feel and know that their voice matters. No organization has ever attempted what the ABTC is structuring. We need your support!

At the recent United Conservative Party (UCP) convention we formally launched the project attracting many volunteers and interest. This new initiative by the PGIB called Take Back City Hall has been launched in response to a growing tax burden on Calgary businesses and home owners. Take Back City Hall is now a permanent municipal division of the PGIB. This project will educate voters, interact with all Stakeholder groups, develop policy, recruit candidates and assemble volunteers.

We have already been at the doors and are getting great response.

We are encouraging conservative and business friendly individuals to run for City Council in the 2021 Municipal Election.

September 14, 2018 · Great picture from the UCP Caucus retreat this weekend in Lethbridge. You are looking at the next government in Alberta.

We will be endorsing candidates (as we always have in the past). Thus far we have 6 candidates that we are endorsing: Councillor Peter Demong, Councillor Sean Chu, Councillor Joe Magliocca, Councillor Jeromy Farkas, Dan McLean and Craig Chandler. *** NOTE *** This is not a political party and is merely an endorsement. PGIB has been endorsing candidates at the municipal level since 1995.

Calgary city hall is out of control, the bureaucrats run the show and there are only 4 conservatives on council. This must change! We can no longer be apathetic about this level of government.

Here Are Some Quick Facts: Since 2010, spending in the City of Calgary has increased by more than 40%; Property taxes for a typical Calgary home have more than doubled; Roughly one-third of City employees now earn salaries in excess of $100,000 per year; The City has added more than 2,000 new employees to its payroll; Total City budget is now about $4 billion per year; the vacancy rate downtown is almost 35%; Last year, Calgary had the most bankruptcies in city history.

We are writing policies and solutions for the many issues and are in discussions with several members of City Council. We have asked for a full Organizational Forensic Review of all City Departments to effectively ascertain where smart cuts can and will be made. These reviews are done on a regular interval in the private sector. There is so much waste at City Hall and our demanded Organizational Review would find millions in savings per year!
