What is it like being a woman in today's world, in your eyes?

Being a woman in today's world is hard. Some days I feel like giving up. By the grace of God is why I don't give up. Being a woman means that you have to be able to wear many hats. You have to be a mother, a spouse, and a professional. We also know that we will not be put on the same level as our male counterparts which can be discouraging and feel unfair. So today's woman, you have to be mentally tough.

When was your first big break in entertainment?

I really have never had a "big break" in entertainment until right now, and I hope to make the best of it . My show is on OMNI TV and is national in Canada. I own a salon which I still love.

Tell us what your new show is about?

The show is called Island Tea. It's about island people getting together to discuss issues that affects the community and more.

What are some of the struggles you have had to face in your career?

I have faced racism within our community. It was difficult to handle! We are not taught at a young age that racism exists in our community, so when I faced it, it was hard to handle because I didn't have the appropriate tools to deal with it. I've dealt with it by educating myself about black history and black culture. With the knowledge I've gained I came to understand why this occurs and use it to motivate myself.

What drives you to host your show?

I wanted to provide a place where people can come together and talk about issues that they feel are important to them. I also wanted to allow our community to be educated about issues that we don't openly discuss within the community. For example we had a show about the LGBTQ community. It is important to have guests that reflect the community. I live in Calgary, AB.

What is your message you want to share with your fans?

I want people to really start loving themselves and each other. I want our community to come together and lift each other up and no matter what, especially women; we are really hard on each other. Together we are unstoppable.
