Cineguide – A Digital Distribution Platform in Augmented Reality

Film put together with A.R.? Sounds like a great combination! Technology sure has developed a long way in recent years. Here is a unique new digital distribution platform coming soon across Canada. Cineguide is an app that turns any iOS or Android device into a “window“ for film and television content. Yes, you heard right!

Having an in-depth preview gave us here at I’m Here With gave a strong sense of its potential.

Basically, Cineguide transforms your phone to become a “window” for pointing and interact with Canadian film and TV media in real world places. Imagine if Vimeo or YouTube had a physical location marked to find all the millions of videos and could watch them around the world. Sounds like a reason to get off your butts and go experience the world!

The kind of things you can upload is Content types could be anything from Private access to distribute the show, Behind-the-Scenes, Alternate endings, Making Ofs, Trailers, Interviews, Articles, Hidden stories! Bandersnatch, anyone?

In the big picture, the app is quite a cool the idea of discovering new films made in different cities around the world by combining GPS with augmented reality. Cineguide, in its beta form, has achieved something unique that early adopters (thinking of you Shareholder types) should think about jumping on. As a creative, using an App as a new Storytelling platform to release or promote for your existing films or television shows.

The platform is open source – allowing Producers and Filmmakers to upload any content as, Image, movie clip, web link, or article, to encourage audience participation.

We need not go on about the possibilities here… Give these guys a little time to refine the early hiccups, and you’ll be glad you signed up early when this platform explodes far and wide.

Cineguide releases their version 1.0 this week in the Apple App store and Google Play store. The companion “Web Portal” www.Cineguide.io is where content is uploaded.

To all you creators - Create an account and get started uploading your content!
