In this modern epic, Kim Nguyen exposes the ruthless edge of our increasingly digital world. Cousins from New York, Vincent (Eisenberg) and Anton (Skarsgård) are players in the high-stakes game of High Frequency Trading, where winning is measured in milliseconds. Their dream? To build a fiber-optic cable straight line between Kansas and New Jersey, making them millions. But nothing is straightforward for this flawed pair. Anton is the brains, Vincent is the hustler, and together they push each other and everyone around them to breaking point on their quixotic adventure. Constantly breathing down their necks is their old boss Eva Torres (Hayek) a powerful, intoxicating and manipulative trader who will stop at nothing to come between them and beat them at their own game.

No matter what the cost, Vincent and Anton are determined to cut through America, only to find redemption at the end of their line, not through money, but through family and reconnecting to the land.

DIRECTOR & SCREENWRITER KIM NGUYEN

"Many years ago, I was struck with this amazing premise of people digging thousand-mile long tunnels to try and shave a couple of milliseconds off of the time it took to make their stock market trades. Madness.

It immediately made sense to explore if there was a movie to be made around that high concept... I had this haunting image in my head of stock market hustlers struggling to walk through swamps and muddy forests in their expensive suits, putting their sanity on the line all for the good old dollar. Little did I know how complex bringing this to the screen would be. We talked with experts of every scientific expertise you could imagine: quantum physics experts, fiber optic physicists, highly specialized tunnel digging experts who dig hundred-mile-long, four-inch-wide tunnels for a living. High frequency trading experts dealing with billion-dollar money flows on a daily basis. Boy, what a ride. And then, well, we had to go through swamps, forests, cities, mud, rivers, we had to bring 20 ton digging machines in the middle of nowhere. In a way, our journey was as quixotic as the premise in the film. And what a ride it was. In retrospect, there is something about bringing forward what seems to be a metaphoric world, when in fact most of what is in the script is, in some way, true to life."

In 2002, Kim Nguyen wrote and directed his first feature: Le Marais. The film received 6 Jutra nominations including “Best Film” and “Best Director”. His second feature, Truffe, won “Best Film” at the Karlovy Vary Fresh Film Festival. In 2009 he directed La Cité, an international co-production starring Jean Marc Barr. War Witch (Rebelle) has been sold in over 25 territories and has been nominated for “Best foreign language film” at the Oscars in 2013. It was also nominated for “Best international Film” at the 28th Film Independent Spirit Awards. War Witch won the Silver Bear for “best actress” at the Berlinale 2012 and the “Best narrative film” and “best actress” awards at TriBeCa Film Festival.

In 2015, Kim Nguyen directed his first documentary: The Nose and his first English-language film: Two Lovers and a Bear, selected at Cannes’ Directors Fortnight in 2016. In 2017, Nguyen saw the release of his film Eye on Juliet that premiered in the section Venice Days at the Venice Mostra. His next title, The Hummingbird Project, starring Jesse Eisenberg and Alexander Skarsgård, will be released in 2018.
