An inspirational Calgary business woman to watch.

How did you find the strength within yourself to build a business in Canada and be thriving now? What was the journey for you to get where you are now?

LEAH: I was in the lowest time of my life when I had moved here in Canada 2015. My self esteem was so low, I want to do something to improve my self confidence and skin. I went to an esthetics clinic but my skin got worse, I wasn't happy and I couldn't afford more treatments. From there, the passion for skin care began to grow more. I enrolled in Esthetics School. Studying while working full time and started my own home based clinic with the goal of giving people a quality service, warm and welcoming environment and good results with affordable prices. Two months after I started the clinic, the Covid-19 began to take over the world. But inspite of all the business restrictions I am grateful that my clients kept growing, until I realized that I had to expand my practice to keep up with demands. I had to quit my full time job and look for a bigger space. Now, Leah V Skin & Laser Clinic has a commercial business location in the Northeast of Calgary with my team of four who are helping service our special clients.

What is aloe vera gel?

For more than five thousand years, aloe vera has been used as a source of health and wellness – and for very good reasons. Whether it’s used as a topical gel or being ingested for bodily benefits, aloe has been highly regarded as one of the most powerful plants to naturally help the human body.

In Sanskrit (the ancient Ayurvedic language), “kumari” is the word used for the aloe vera plant, which translates to “a beautiful young girl”. In Ayurveda, the aloe plant is culturally known to keep a woman youthful. According to Ayurveda, aloe is a perfect herb for a woman to use throughout her life, as it’s praised for its potent ability to support digestion, skin care, and natural beauty.

Why use aloe vera gel?

Aloe Vera is an herb, known for its anti-inflammatory properties. A succulent plant that has no stem, the fleshy leaves hold special sacs filled with a gel that is released when the leaf is cut. The gel itself contains anti-inflammatory saponins (act as the plant’s natural immune system), as well as antimicrobial anthraquinones, vitamins C and E as well as minerals and salicylic acid.

Today we use aloe vera gel as a natural and gentle soothing moisturizer to keep our skin healthy and hydrated. Our aloe vera gel was formulated in Korea and brought to you exclusively by Leah V Skin Care to support your daily skincare routine.

What are the benefits of aloe vera gel?

Skin treatments like laser, microneedling and chemical peels cause controlled damage to the skin in order to produce a healing and regenerating effect that includes boosting collagen. It is particularly important after such treatments that we provide the support our skin needs to allow it to heal and regenerate quickly and optimally. Aloe vera gel contains vitamins, minerals and antioxidants (known as polyphenols) in addition to having antibacterial and antiviral properties. It accelerates the healing process and helps the skin to retain moisture which can minimize wrinkles and skin aging. All of these properties in a naturally occurring plant product make it the perfect product to add to your skin care routine.
