Have you watched everything that you possibly can on Netflix? Great Canadian Dueling Pianos (GCDP) is something that is different and has tripled its viewership during the pandemic.

Like many organizations during the pandemic, GCDP had to embrace change and adapt its productions for the virtual world but with surprising results. After performing over 2000+ live in-person shows, GCDP began its change; live streaming to audiences (Wed and Sat), providing virtual shows for corporations, entertaining seniors at living centres. GCDP has entertained over 35,000+ people virtually in the last year. The award-winning Canadian duo continues to garner audiences with their immersive show, while raising money for the Daily Bread Food Bank and other small businesses across North America.

Do you miss going to live concerts as much as we do? Here’s a unique way to get your live music fix right from home

“It has been humbling to bring our show to audiences through livestreaming, and while we cannot wait to play in front of an in-person audience again, we are honoured to find a place in the hearts of so many in such challenging times” - says Cody Fenwick.

The act is the brainchild of Joel Lightman and Cody Fenwick, two musicians with decades of international touring experience. From the world’s largest stages to intimate clubs and theatres, they are veterans of thousands of shows and imbue their professionalism and musical talent into the ethos of GCDP.

Cody and Joel play together, connected by two grand pianos, and provide unscripted entertainment for audiences from all over the world. GCDP shows are complete with special effects, audience clapping, and musical requests from engaged viewers, making each and every show one-of-a-kind.

The live audience can request what they want to hear via the “chat” function and engage with the performers.

"Before the pandemic hit, we were receiving typical song requests like, ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ or ‘Sweet Child O' Mine’ but now, the song requests are much more diverse. Over the course of everyone staying at home, our audience members have dug deeper than the standard repertoire and this is translating into our performances,” says Joel Lightman.

What are dueling Pianos: Seated together, connected by two baby grand pianos, both Joel and Cody sing a variety of hit songs, via audience request, and encourage participation. The interactive show takes place in a music studio with professional lighting and sound. Engaged live audiences are encouraged to submit their song requests in the chat box and tip (via PayPal as they would like) and a percentage of the tips generated from the evening go to a dedicated charity.

About Great Canadian Dueling Pianos

Great Canadian Dueling Pianos (GCDP) was formed in 2018 and became Canada's premiere piano party people. Since then, the company has grown exponentially, playing for clients as diverse as Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, Delta Airlines, Coca-Cola, Canadian Tire, The Royal Military College and hundreds of smaller companies and associations across the country, as well as opening Canada's only purpose built Dueling Piano Bar, Gatsbys Speakeasy at 82 Bathurst Street in Toronto.

Great Canadian Dueling Pianos operates on a single philosophy - the music you want to hear, delivered with charisma, cheer and musical prowess. No other act incorporates its audience in such an interactive fashion, and with a repertoire from Broadway to Britney, no two shows are ever the same.
