Burden of Truth Starring The Gorgeous Kristin Kreuk

Season 2 airs on Wednesdays, at 8 p.m. (8:30 p.m. NT) on CBC Television and CBC Gem.


In Season 2, starring corporate attorney Joanna Hanley played by (Kristin Kreuk), finds herself at a top law firm in Winnipeg ready to make a fresh start away from her previous firm. There, a new client draws her into the shadowy world of hackers, activists, and a political movement that won’t take any prisoners. The case leads Joanna through many twists and turns, until she eventually becomes a killer’s target. Her estranged father tries to assist her, which leads to an event that will change both their lives forever.

Meanwhile, Millwood’s lifeblood has been left depleted following the bankruptcy of the mill. With rising unemployment rates, tensions in town are running high, leaving Billy to retreat further away from town, but when his reckless brother Shane (Andrew Chown) shows up, Billy (Peter Mooney) is forced to confront childhood memories.

Season 2 also introduces new cast members including Michelle Nolden (Saving Hope, Republic of Doyle) as Teddie Lavery, Joanna’s mentor and boss at Steadman Lavery; Varun Saranga (Wynonna Earp, Carter) as Joanna’s new client, Noah; Andrew Chown (Beauty and the Beast, Reign) as Billy’s brother Shane Crawford; and Raymond Ablack (Orphan Black, Degrassi: The Next Generation) as Sunil Doshi, a young lawyer at Steadman Lavery.


BURDEN OF TRUTH was created by Brad Simpson and is produced by ICF Films, Entertainment One (eOne) and Eagle Vision with executive producers Ilana Frank (“Rookie Blue,” “Saving Hope”), Linda Pope (“Saving Hope”), Adam Pettle (“Rookie Blue”), Jocelyn Hamilton (“Cardinal”), and Kristin Kreuk (“Beauty And The Beast”).

Kristin Kreuk born and raised in Vancouver BC, Kristin broke out in the title role of the television movie Snow White for ABC, opposite Miranda Richardson. Not long after, she landed the lead role of ‘Lana Lang’ on the hit WB series Smallville. A longstanding Neutrogena beauty contract followed, and her long relationship with The CW led to her starring and producing four seasons of Beauty & The Beast. She is the star and executive producer on two seasons of BURDEN OF TRUTH a legal drama for the CBC and The CW in the US.
