CJSW is blasting off for our 2019 Funding Drive!

Updated: Oct 4, 2019

Greetings Earthlings!

CJSW is blasting off for our 2019 Funding Drive!

We’re searching for Interstellar Signals. Are you receiving?

CJSW Radio is one of Calgary’s only independent media outlets and is Calgary’s only campus & community radio station. Based on campus at the University of Calgary located on Treaty 7 land,

we operate as a non-profit society with a small team of staff and a large dedicated volunteer base.

We broadcast over 110 music, spoken word and multicultural programs in more than 10 languages.

We take pride in our mandate to bring diverse and passionate voices from throughout Calgary and the surrounding areas to discuss topics that may not receive mainstream exposure elsewhere.

We tell stories that you won’t hear anywhere else, and work to strengthen relationships among the arts, business, intellectual, and cultural communities and the audiences they are looking to reach.

Our mission is to increase the profile of local, Canadian, and independent artists, groups

and organizations. We do this is by playing their music, telling their stories, hosting them on our programs, and promoting their causes and events. Our hosts play a vast array of genres from rock, blues, folk, jazz, experimental, metal, hip-hop, soul, electronic, classical, and world music.

Ever wondered how radio shows work, or why the Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning looks the way it does? Come to the UCalgary spaces participating in Doors Open YYC to satisfy your curiosity! Sept. 28-29 – free for all.

Every year, for one week, we ask our listeners and the communities we serve to invest back into our station and pledge financial support to CJSW. For a donation of as lile as $30, our supporters can proudly say that they have helped an invaluable local resource continue to operate and grow! By

pledging support and joining the CJSW community, our listeners are helping us along the way to a beer listener experience!

This year's drive runs from 9:00am on Friday, October 18 until 6:00pm on Friday, October 25.

Listeners can call (403) 220-5000 during the week of Funding Drive or visit www.cjsw.com starting Tuesday, October 1 to view the full lineup of pledge incentives.

We want to continue to do what we do best: making award-winning music, spoken word and multicultural programming 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year throughout Calgary, the surrounding areas and beyond. Our Funding Drive is the most successful radio fundraising campaign of

its kind in Canada.

This year, our goal is to raise $225,000. The support we receive from our listeners keeps us ‘on air,’ including general operations, funding capital projects, and building additional resources for the community. Here are a few examples of some of the projects CJSW has been able to complete over the

past decade, all thanks to the support of our listeners:
